Closer (Tokyo remix) – The Chainsmokers feat. Mackenyu Arata

I have a new obsession (apart from One Piece), and his name is Mackenyu Arata aka the Japanese actor who plays Roronoa Zoro in the Netflix One Piece live action. I’ve seen him in movies before and I watched the One Piece live action, sure I admired his physicality and how amazing he looks doing all the stunts and fights himself, but due to Zoro being a quite subdued character, it didn’t hit me. Yet. Until my subconscious decided to take matters into its own hands and made me dream about him. I mean, I’m not surprised about the fact that I dreamt about One Piece. The amount I was consuming (anime, live action, reviews on Youtube etc), I was surprised it took me so many months to dream something One Piece. What I didn’t expect was dreaming only about Mackenyu. And not even as Zoro, as Mackenyu. I was so surprised and taken aback. See, whenever I feel (or in this case, dream) something that I don’t know the reason why to, I would become like this dog with a bone type and would not let go until I figure out what the hell is going on deep in my psyche. And it might be the spring season or my quickly approaching 40th birthday, I think something in me has awaken and eager to explore. Especially younger men who has cute faces but physically strong bodies. XD And all of this made me see Mackenyu in a whole new light and I quickly became obsessed. I’ve watched his older movies and interviews etc. One way I fuel my obsession is listening nonstop to ‘Closer’ by The Chainsmokers which Mackenyu covered. I hope you enjoy it. 😀 And have a great weekend!

Good 4 u – Camila Cabello (Olivia Rodrigo cover)

I think I can finally feel my age when I just couldn’t get onto that Olivia Rodrigo bandwagon for some reason. I do think ‘Good 4 u’ is great but the original is not really a song I would listen to constantly. But then I ran into this cover by Camila and I somehow liked this way more. 😀 So here we are, here you go. I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

Sinnerman – Alice Smith (Nina Simone cover)

This week was a bad mental health week but a few TV show got me through and one of them was ‘Lovecraft Country’. I am a fan of Lovecraftian horror but I’m definitely not the only one being uncomfortable with his racist views. And that makes ‘Lovecraft Country’ interesting and definitely a show to look out for. Plus the music is so good on this show. ‘Sinnerman’ is the song that plays in the end credits of each episode but do know miss out on all the other songs on the show. For now, I hope you enjoy ‘Sinnerman’ and have a great weekend!

Shoop – Salt-N-Pepa (‘50s Little Richard Style Cover) ft. Tia Simone

I live for the 50s, the style, the music. I love it all. So to cheer it up, I chose a great song that become entirely something else but equally great in the 50s style! Hope it puts some spring in your steps like it did mine. 🙂 Stay strong, stay safe, stay sane.

Summer in the City – Lotta-Maria Heinonen

Summer has arrived in the north! I’m not a big fan of the heat so actually, the usually chilly Finnish summer is very much to my liking. Then I keep hearing this song in a commercial for a Nordic department store Stockmann, and just this song alone almost makes the whole summer ordeal worth it. It’s a classic from the 60s by The Lovin’ Spoonful but their version is a little to rushed. And after hearing this young talented Finnish singer Lotta-Maria Heinonen’s version, this song became one of my faves. Unfortunately, since it is a song made for a commercial, it’s only a short version, and since Lotta-Maria doesn’t have the rights to it, she can’t record and publish the full version of it. But I’m still grateful we got this. So hope you enjoy the summer more than I do. 😀 Have a great weekend and happy midsummer!
