7 Years – Lukas Graham Cover by Tanner Patrick

Ever since it came out around last Christmas, ‘7 Years’ was the song that kept playing in my head, insisting for me to like it. And I kept insisting not liking it. It’s not the song, I really really like it. But it’s the singer, Lukas Graham. It’s the way he kinda rolls his words that drives me absolutely crazy. It’s like nails dragging on the blackboard for me. So I’ve been avoiding that song. But then recently I heard them singing it in the X-Factor UK, Christian Burrows, who made me cry last time he performed his own song about his late brother, sang a little of ‘7 years’, with such heart-wrenching passion that I almost instantly fell for that song. So for today’s Jukebox Friday, I set out to find a cover version of the song, to find a version that I hear in my head, which is the version close to Christian’s rendition, raw and passionate. I went through a looot of covers. For some reasons most covers are done in a very tame way, maybe because the song is very acoustic friendly? Then finally I found one that is not quite as raw as Christian, but close enough, and it’s none other than Tanner Patrick. I like many of his other covers like ‘A Thousand Years’. So here it is, ‘7 Years’, Lukas Graham cover by Tanner Patrick. Happy Friday!
